Consolidated Sterilizer CEO to Present Energy Saving Design Options for Sustainability Written by: Scott Mechler BS Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineer Consolidated Sterilizer Systems, Inc. (Consolidated) today announced that Arthur Trapotsis, President and CEO, will be one of four industry innovators who will present their ideas on Water Savings Design and Practices for Animal Holding Equipment Cleaning and Sterilization at the 12th Annual CDC International Symposium on Biosafety in Atlanta, Georgia, February 11-15, 2012. The symposium is sponsored in partnership with the American Biological Safety Association and the Eagleson Institute. Trapotsis will present Sunday morning beginning at 8 a.m. until noon. As part of his presentation, he will guide participants through hands-on payback calculations for energy saving design options and operational decisions. The course will also demonstrate water saving strategies through the proper use of sterilization and washing equipment. “This is an opportunity to discuss a topic that isn’t commonly discussed,” Trapotsis said. “The experience is unique because participants will be able to determine which water saving technology options best suit their facility or project. While some conferences offer broad, general information, we will provide specific solutions catered to each individual’s circumstances and needs.” Trapotsis will present the company’s WaterEco® Series of water-saving, green industry features for steam sterilizers. This groundbreaking technology is designed to save resources, the environment and cost through dramatically reduced utility consumption. WaterEco® Systems can reduce water consumption by more than 90 percent with a return on investment in as little as six months. Together with cost savings and environmental benefits, these measures will also help increase the number of LEED points accredited to a building project. Consolidated Sterilizer Systems is an industry leader in development and manufacturing of gravity and pre-vacuum steam sterilizers with advanced programmable logic controllers configured for clinical, academic, life science, pharmaceutical and industrial applications. Consolidated products are 100% made in the U.S.A. and built with non-proprietary parts to assure local service efficiencies for maximum uptime. For information visit consteril.com. Tweet Like Share

7.12.23 Cordyceps Sterilization: How to Kill “The Last of Us” Parasite → In HBO’s recent adaptation of “The Last of Us,” a popular action-adventure video game, life as we know it is upended by a parasitic fungus that transforms its human hosts into zombies. The culprit? Cordyceps, a real-life genus of fungus which is best known for infecting insects (most famously ants) in much the same manner […]
6.30.23 Top 13 Sterile Processing Mistakes in Hospitals → When it comes to ensuring patient safety in hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs), the Sterile Processing Department (SPD) is among the last lines of defense. It’s this department’s sole responsibility to make sure that reusable instruments and devices are properly decontaminated, sterilized, and ultimately safe to use in future procedures — protecting patients from […]
6.22.23 Sterilization vs. High-Level and Low-Level Disinfection [a 3-Point Comparison] → In a 1939 paper, microbiologist Earle H. Spaulding introduced a system for determining which medical devices and instruments needed disinfection and which ones required sterilization. In it, he proposed that critical instruments would need to be subjected to more stringent disinfection protocols than non-critical patient care items. Today, this framework is fittingly known as Spaulding […]
