Consolidated Sterilizer Systems is a small but growing company that designs and manufactures steam sterilizers (autoclaves) at our facility in Billerica. We are seeking someone very experienced with the product design and development life cycle to lead mechanical design & documentation efforts involving creation of high level concepts as well as detailed design, conducting design reviews, hands on prototyping & testing, design for manufacturing, and transfer to production. Documentation will include creating fabrication quality drawings, reviewing & redlining prints, enforcing documentation standards, reviewing ECO’s and helping to manage Solidworks PDM. In this role, you will play a critical role in a taking a design from inception to deployment and will be responsible for much of the execution.

Responsibilities:
• Use Solidworks to develop designs and 3D models of parts and assemblies
• Work with in house manufacturing and external vendors to create and test prototypes
• Partner with relevant parties (manufacturing, field service, purchasing) to ensure designs are optimized for manufacturability, reliability and cost
• Participate in, and as needed lead, mechanical design reviews
• Create necessary technical documentation to support transfer to production ie. drawings, BOMs, assembly/installation instructions, product manuals, etc.
• Use knowledge of various manufacturing methods, engineering practices and materials to complete designs within specification
• Investigate product issues in support of ECN’s
• Participate in continuous improvement activities to help bring the engineering department, manufacturing processes and the company as a whole to the next level
• Mentor fellow engineers as needed to create shared knowledge and teach best practices

Requirements:
• 5-15 years of relevant work experience. 8+ years strongly preferred
• Minimum 5 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment
• Experience engineering new mechanical designs and successfully deploying them
• Fluency with detailing machined components, weldments and sheet metal assemblies
• Expert in Solid Works 2018 or higher and PDM Standard
• Expert with drafting, drawing & document control standards
• Familiarity with FDA quality control procedures and standards preferred.
• Be mechanically inclined and have a strong mechanical aptitude
• Have an eagerness to learn and be a reliable team player
• Be very organized and have great communication skills

This is for a permanent full time position to start immediately – this is NOT a contract role.
